 My New Job and Op Shop Styling

I have a new job!!!!

So I apologise for my lack of posts as I transition into my new role as the Manger of The Salvos Store in Drysdale. 

I'm super sad to be leaving Cotton On and all my amazing friends, but I know that this is the right move for me at this point in my life. 

Working for a charity is a dream come true, especially one that I support and shop at regularly like The Salvos. It aligns with my values and interests (op shopping is one of my favourite things) and I'll just happen to see all the best stuff first (hehe). 

Friday night, I went out for a celebratory drink with my friend Kimmy and her family. It was just the most perfect evening and we caught a couple of snaps at sunset of the outfit I threw on (I literally got showered, dressed, make-up done and out the door in 15 minutes).

What I wore was a light purple sheer slip dress that has really cute buttons on the back. I purchased this last week from the Geelong City Salvos Store where I have been doing my training.   

This dress is completely see through, but I popped on a white K-Mart tee and white body cocoon skirt  underneath which was $5 from Valley girl (also totally see through aha), and finished it off with black shoes and a clear quartz necklace. 

This was such a cheap look and I had so many compliments on it. You just need to really look hard to find the hidden gems (I didn't notice this dress for 4 days). 

I have loved op shopping for as long as I can remember and there is so much quality gear at the op shops these days, clothes are so cheap that it is making people turn over their stuff more quickly. So keep going back and checking your favourite oppys as you'll be sure to find an affordable fashion bargain.

Saturday Style at Terindah Estate 

A few weekends ago, I was lucky enough to win the Millinery Award at the Geelong St Patricks Day Cup. I was so excited and honoured to win and then to receive some amazing prizes on top of that, really was just icing on the cake. 

One of the prizes was a voucher to Terindah Estate on the Bellarine Peninsula.

On Saturday Aden and I took some time out and caught an Uber out to Terindah which is located between Clifton Springs and Portarlington. I was super excited to just have a beautiful meal with my love and relax. Boy did Terindah Estate live up to my expectations. 

The view was so gorgeous and even though it was a tiny bit windy and a little bit cold when the sun went behind the clouds, Aden and I chose to sit outside. 

We ordered a bottle of Terindah Estate Rose, our meals and sat back and enjoyed the view. 

It was beautiful wine, beautiful service and beautiful food. They even have 'Estate Dogs' (the owners dogs roamed around while he ate his lunch outside) which I LOVED! They were so flipping cute. 


We got a little tipsy, took some happy snaps, had a laugh and it truely was an amazing afternoon. Terindah would be perfect for a wedding or event, as you can see from the photos, I crashed someones wedding, lol not really, it wasn't starting for another hour.

Now I am no food or wine critic, everything was delicious is all I need to say. I can talk about what I wore though.

Classic Black and White

What I am wearing, a white Factorie knit. I am obsessed with this jumper right now. It has long bell sleeves with little strands of silver through the knit so it can be dressed up or down and is just a super fun piece. 


On Saturday I wore it with black leather look pants, black Rubi slides, some long black and gold earirngs, my cute Typo back pack and a Dotti hat (although I took the hat off because it was windy and my hair was annoying me).

This look was great because I was in a bit of a, 'can't be bothered getting ready' mood and this look was so easy to throw on. Furthermore actually sit down and eat a big meal (the pants are super stretchy) in without getting tight or uncomfortable from my food baby. 

Easy and classic for a relaxing Saturday afternoon.

Thanks to the Geelong St Pats Day cup for the prize, we had an amazing time.

My friend Kacey recently got engaged and asked me to do the floral arrangements for her engagement party. Yaaaas, of course I will Kacey.

Now I am not a florist, but I think my friends have figured that I am always up for anything creative, and getting flowers done by a professional is mighty expensive. 

We all know I love a bargain and saving money. Doing your own floral arrangements is a massive way that everyone can save money when it comes to engagement parties, weddings or just those special moments. 

So today I had a practice run, so that we could get a feel for what Kacey actually wanted for the day. Kacey had one particular bunch of flowers that she had ordered from The Flower Farm, the Cluster Roses in pink lace, but for everything else, she gave me some money and told me to go nuts.

Kacey gave me the wine glass vases, her plan is to scatter them around the venue with a few larger arrangements as centre/focal points. 

As I said, I am not a florist so I don't even know the names of everything I grabbed, I just got shades of pink and white. There are some Roses, Dahlias and some greenery in the arrangements and I think they turned out really cute. 

We only spent $40 for our practice run (we will get a lot more on the day) but it actually made quite a lot. Putting this all together took me about 50 minutes and would have saved Kacey sooooooo much money. 

What I am saying, is don't be afraid to just have a crack. Check out some Pinterest posts for inspiration and hit up The Flower Farm to create something that is uniquely you, and OMG there is a new Flower Farm in the Leopold Plaza and you can pay per stem, WHICH I LOVE.

My Favourite Things Right Meow - Dusty Pink and Furry Slides

I was cleaning out my closet the other day and noticed that I own soooooo many pieces of clothing in different shades of dusty pink.

Clearly a favourite, so I thought why not do a post about a couple of my favourite things right meow (yes I'm aware it says meow not now).

Dusty pink and furry slides are my go to at the moment. My grey furry slides are from Rubi and I smash these at the moment. They can be worn dressed up or down and I've basically made them an any occasion shoe.

I get a lot of people saying they can't wear dusty pink because it washes them out etc etc but have you met me? Possibly the whitest person on earth, and I own so much of it. I always say it's about how you accessorise your look, so that you can pull of your favourite pieces with confidence. 

I've had a bit on over the past week, and here is a look at a few of the outfits I wore using my favourite things.

The first photo I'm wearing a Cotton On off the shoulder top that is currently on sale for $5 (winning), paired up with a white linen Purple Cow skirt and my furry slides. 

I had been to the races that day and we were heading out for dinner at Fishermans Pier in Geelong. After a little lie down I slicked my hair back, touched my face up with some powder and chucked this outfit on. I just took the purse I had used at the races that day and off I went. Seriously easy look that took me 5 minutes and was still super appropriate for dinner. 

The second picture I was just heading out to lunch with my friend Cazzy. It was cold and windy that day so I slapped on my grey Cotton On chino pants, dusty pink Cotton On jumper and my slides. I threw on the shades because I didn't want to wear make up and again created a really easy look that was perfect for our lunch date. 

The last photo I was heading to my niece Ava's birthday dinner with the family. It was just at my brothers house, so there was no need to dress up. Plus I'm such a big kid that comfortable clothes are essential when hanging out with the kids. This look is of course my slides, a pair of dusty pink Cotton On Body trackies and my Pantera band tee, tied in a knot for a bit more shape. This look may not exactly be super trendy, but it's reality.

Simple clothes dressed up with confidence and because I love the colour and my slides, I carry them off and got so many compliments on these outfits.

Meg-Fay Makes Winner Best Millinery - 2017 Geelong St Pats Day Cup 

 Last Saturday the18th of March, I had the pleasure of entering Fashions on the Field at the 2017 Geelong St Patricks Day Cup. This is only the second time I have entered a FOTF competition and I was super stoked when I was announced as the winner of the Millinery award on the day, wearing a Meg-Fay Makes headpiece. 

This was such an amazing surprise for me. I had gone out that morning with the intentions of showing off a really cute and affordable racing look, grabbing some snaps for the blog and then going on and enjoying the rest of the day out with my Mum. This was all achieved successfully, and then to walk away with over $300 in prizes for something that I made myself was just the icing on the cake. So, so happy with what I was able to achieve, and the look that I put together for about $50.

I'll quickly just say a big THANK-YOU to John Jovic (number 1 fan of Doris Jovic who also entered on Saturday) for capturing some amazing photos of the day which I have used throughout this post unless noted otherwise.


So, the hat was actually an old vintage piece my step mum got for me. I wish I had taken a before picture now so that I could have shown you the massive difference between what I finished up with and the original. 

Basically, it had a big ugly square shaped top (bit of a mad hatter vibe) that I completely cut off. I kept the brim and added flowers, pearls and beads from the op-shop and the black flower was off the original piece but I added the feathers and beading to it. 

When I made this hat, I actually intended it to go the other way with the brim covering my face, but in recent racing trends I have seen a lot of halo looks, and my hat inverted gave the same vibe. I was actually a bit worried about wearing it inverted, as its was way more out there than the original look, but after getting a couple of peoples opinions I am so happy I did. I even matched with Alex Hecker (pictured left) the MC who wore a Lisa Alexander Halo.

The outfit itself was a combination of thing I already owned and a couple of things I bought to match. 

The dress was the brand Khoko from Harris Scarf and I got it for under $25 on sale. I had been looking online for a plain cheap dress for weeks and happened to stroll into HS on my lunch break one day and found it on a '30% off already reduced prices' rack. I was so happy because it was exactly what I needed, for a price that I could afford and I'll wear it a million times again. Shopping around is really worth while in these sorts of circumstances.  

Now, I already owned my shoes. Another bargain find at $15 from Miss Guided about 18 months ago. They are black and white block healed shoes with an orange snake skin patch on the back. This was the trickiest part of my outfit. I really didn't want to get new shoes, but didn't know if orange and pink would really work. 

I already had a pink belt and a black and white bag, so I just wanted a few touches of orange to go with the shoes. Orange turned out to be a very hard colour to find this time of year. I shopped around for ages for a necklace but couldn't find anything affordable. I ended up keeping it simple with a pair of orange Lovisa earrings, an orange, black & white Supre pom pom key ring and orange nails.

I really loved the final look, and thought the touches of orange really made it pop. As you can see from the picture of the final, I was up against some really stiff competition. Many of the finalist are regulars on the FOTF stage and their outfits are flawless. 

The community of FOTF women are AMAZING, and really are there because they love fashion and have a passion for FOTF. I loved talking to all of the ladies and gents about their outfits, they even helped me with my final touches like where to hold my gloves and purse with poise and class (Thanks Doris and Em).

My outfit was affordable and on trend, and I was so lucky to be picked as the winner for the Millinery Award. Thanks to the judges and everyone else involved. 

The overall winner is pictured to the left of me (in the blue, red and white) and runner-up Em in the red. Runner-up in the Millinery was Courtney on the end in baby pink boater and white. Congratulations ladies, well deserved and I hope to see you all again soon. 

Be brave and save by wearing something you've made yourself. It paid off for me, and could pay off for you. We already devoured our giant horse chocolate from Moorabool Valley Chocolate and I can't wait to spend my vouchers at Ruby and Leo in Highton and Terindah Estate.

 Wind-back Wednesday - Geelong Cup 2016

This weekend I will be entering Fashion on the Field at the 2017 Geelong St Pats Day Cup. I'm super excited to show off the outfit I have put together for the day. 

So I thought I would do a wind-back Wednesday and show you all what I wore to the Geelong Cup last year. 

I have been to the Geelong Cup many times, mostly to dress up and get drunk with my friends, so before last year I had never even watched the FOTF event there. 

FOTF is highly competitive and Geelong has a huge community of girls that enter religiously. I knew that Geelong Cup FOTF would be of high quality and I doubted myself way to much to enter, but it was really great to watch and get a feel for what a FOTF catwalk was like. 

I have been following a few FOTF Instagram account for a while now, and have really developed a feel for race day style now. I just can't resist adding a bit of Meg-Fay Makes flair to my outfits. 

On the day, I wore an off-the-shoulder floral midi dress that I got for $35 off Boohoo. I love this dress, it made me feel so pretty and classy. Dresses in FOTF should always be modest and sit on the knee or below. 

I teamed my dress up with nude Boohoo shoes that have a clear chunky heal (my fav at the moment) and a small black heart clutch also from Boohoo. 

The hat, I made myself, and have spoken about in my previous Colac Cup post. It's a boater that I got from and op-shop and just jazzed it up a bit by cutting the top off and adding some flowers and a feather. Very simple and anyone that owns a glue gun can do. 

Overall I really loved my outfit, I probably could have worn better underwear, I got bloated from drinking and ended up with VPL around my tummy. Live and learn. 

Geelong Cup was really cool to just build up my confidence that I can put together a cute racing outfit. I made it into the top 10 of the Geelong Advertiser's People Choice Best Dressed (I was even on the cover of the paper).

I can't wait to have a crack on the actual stage this weekend.

Happy International Womens Day!

To celebrate I wanted to share the photos taken from a recent collaboration shoot with a beautiful and talented boss woman, Ally Reid from @alexphotoandfilm. 

Ally and I work together at Cotton On, we always have a fun time at work and often talk about our passions, hobbies and our dreams of being boss ladies. 

Ally is seriously the coolest, most down to earth, beautiful soul you'll ever meet. Ally lives to give and wants to impact the world and make it a better place. I wholeheartedly believe that one way she will achieve this, is through her photography. 

So last Wednesday, Ally and I went down to Barwon Heads to collaborate with a photoshoot. Helping to build both our portfolios.

It was forecast to be 33 and sunny, and as soon as we got down on the beach to start snapping, the thickest fog rolled over The Heads. We laughed because the day before we had joked about wanting the photoshoot to be magical, and here it was. 

We assumed the fog would pass as in was perfectly sunny it Leopold where I had just driven from. 

Nope.

The fog stayed the whole 2 hours we were down at the beach, resulting in my curls falling out and by the time I jumped in the water, I was freezing. 

We had so much fun though, and seriously, did you see the photos? AMAZING RIGHT? The fog seriously did look magic and I couldn't be more happy with the end result. Hence why I have attached so many of the shots, I simply just couldn't choose. 

It was so great to collab with Ally, and create something we were both proud of.
